In 1974 Jos van Woerkum joined Damen Shipyard and has been Managing Director since 2000. Subsequently the company has soared and has focused on custom built shipbuilding even more.
Service and delivery time are essential
Jos van Woerkum is very content with the service supplied by Heila.
He is not completely at liberty to choose cranes or accessories; the customer decides on the type of crane and the make. In case of the customer choosing Heila he calls Heila Cranes Nederland. It mostly concerns knuckle boom cranes between 25 – 240 tons.
Heila’s service is not only limited to the delivery of cranes. Also accessories are purchased by Jos on a regular basis, varying from winches to remote control systems.
Service is everything for Heila and that is one of the reasons Jos is a regular customer. “Selling cranes is one thing”, says Jos, “but providing good service is equally important as well. The people at Heila always keep in touch with us and try to restrict delivery times as much as possible. Which is not always easy, but when a particular problem occurs we should blame the supplier and not Hiela Cranes and his staff. They always have our interests in mind and try to keep lying idle to an absolute minimum”, says Jos.
Lying idle costs time and time is money. Service and delivery times are absolutely essential and Heila fully understands this. That is why they have most in-demand parts in stock so that their customers can be helped as quickly as possible.
“We opt for quality cranes and value a good partnership with our suppliers. Our cooperation with Heila proves this’.
About Damen Shipyard Hardinxveld-Giessendam
Damen Shipyard is part of the Damen Shipyard Group and specializes in custom built, medium-sized vessels and the repairs/maintenance of barges as well as coasters.
Initially Damen Shipyard Hardinxveld-Giessendam was the shipyard where repairs were carried out for the Damen Group. The Damen Group’s headquarters are in Gorinchem. In 1991 it became an independent subsidiary company. At first they primarily focused on the finishing and assembling of ships as a subcontractor of Damen Shipyard in Gorinchem, but before long they changed over to the construction and repairs of ships in Hardinxveld. Tugs, multipurpose working vessels, patrol vessels and special boats are being designed and built here; in fact everything apart from yachts. Furthermore they not only engage on the lining, woodwork and installation of pipe-lines on board, but also on the maintenance, renovation and repairs of technical installations on board. Damen Shipyard Hardinxveld emphasizes the importance of having a good rapport with their suppliers and subcontractors.
