Heila Cranes at SMM 2026 Hamburg: recap from Stand B7.416
From 1 to 4 September 2026 Heila Cranes exhibited at SMM 2026 in Hamburg, the leading international maritime trade fair. Four days in Hall B7, Stand 416, with a demo crane on the floor, our Italian and Dutch teams side by side and a steady flow of shipbuilders, shipowners, naval architects and fleet operators from all over the world. Here is our recap.
SMM 2026 in brief
SMM takes place every two years at Hamburg Messe and brings the global maritime industry together in one place: shipyards, ship operators, equipment suppliers and technology providers. For a manufacturer of marine and offshore cranes it is the natural venue to meet the people who specify, buy and operate lifting equipment on board.
Our stand was located in Hall B7 as part of the Netherlands pavilion, alongside Heila Cranes Nederland B.V., our base for customers in Northern Europe. The message on the walls was simple and true to what we do every day: advanced technology built into every crane, engineered for the sea.
On the stand: the HLM 25/3S marine crane
Visitors could see an HLM 25/3S up close: a compact, fully foldable telescopic marine crane from the HLM series, designed for workboats, tugs, pontoons and service vessels. Three extensions, rack and pinion slewing system, up to 400° rotation, a compact and lightweight design built for the marine environment and for easy operation and maintenance.
In harbour conditions the HLM 25/3S lifts 4,940 kg at 4.81 m outreach and 2,200 kg at 10.58 m. The unit shown in Hamburg is equipped with a winch with a 2 t load capacity, and it is available from stock: a ready solution for operators who need reduced delivery time without compromising on Heila engineering quality. More than one crane: the whole range in one place
Around the demo unit, the stand told the story of the complete Heila range: the HLM and HLRM fully foldable telescopic cranes, the HR offshore series, including the HR850 for subsea and offshore platforms, and the custom solutions we engineer for specific vessels and missions. Our team was on hand to discuss configurations, capacities, classification requirements and delivery times, as well as technical assistance and spare parts for the many Heila cranes already in service around the world.

Throughout the four days the stand was staffed by Fabio Berto, Chief Commercial Officer; Augusto Mosti, Sales and Commercial Manager; Sietse Nap, Sales Manager at Heila Cranes Nederland; and Diane van den Herik, Office & Finance at Heila Cranes Nederland.
To everyone who stopped by, asked questions, brought a drawing or simply came to say hello: thank you. Trade fairs are where ideas turn into projects, and many of the conversations started in Hamburg are already continuing by email and phone.
